My name is Caren Rugg.  I was born an Air Force dependent, and spent my 6th-12th birthdays on the island of Okinawa.  Living on an island of black haired individuals when I was a blonde has given me a world view.  I've learned people are people, no matter where they're from.

As a graduate of the University of Kansas (Rock Chalk!) who majored in Political Science and minored in History, I am a bit of a political junkie.  I read and write about current politics and have definite opinions about how this country is functioning.

We have children who are married and have children of their own, and one daughter who is in college to receive her BSN.  My husband has had numerous health issues since his disabling heart attack in 2000, and I left my job of 18 years at a not for profit in Sept. of 2010 to be at home with him.  Our daughter was 8 at the time of his heart attack, and all she's known is our lives wrapped around his care and needs.  As a result, she's learned the value of good nurses, and wants to give back in that way.  I am the happiest and most content when the house is full and loud with kids and grandkids all having a good time. 

I'm currently working on a book about advocating for a loved one as a caregiver, and have plans to write a political book after that.  I have two websites, so I'm using different social media to get my name and works out there.
